Glenville

The village of Glenville is situated approximately 18 km north of Cork City. It is one of two villages in the parish of Watergrasshill and Glenville and in the division of Imokilly.

Glenville Football Club and Watergasshill Hurling Club draw players and officials from both sides of the parish.

The Football Club was founded in the 1930's and was put on a sound footing in the late forties and early fifties. Through the years, the club has competed well in all competitions and has teams from under eight up to adult. Our club has won many championship and league titles, with under age teams performing particularly well.

The club has over sixty adult members in addition to many student and juvenile members.

Club Teams

Under 8/9/10

While these teams do not take part in any structured competition they gather for training every Saturday morning from early Spring and run through to Autumn. In the year 2001 they played a number of matches against Cobh, Dungourney and Russel Rovers.

The main emphasis with these players is to introduce them to the game and skills. There is a great sense of fun around there training and games.

The trainers for this age group are Richard Cahill, Frank Halbert (snr) and Frank Halbert (jnr).

Under 11/12

These teams had a number of very good games in 2002.

Their trainers for the coming year is Paudie Cahill and Noel O Riordain.

Under 14

This is a grade where we always seem to perform well. Last year, 2001, we won the divisional titles in the league and championship. We went on to compete in the Cork County championship only to be defeated by Fermoy after a replay.

The trainer for the coming year is Richard Cahill.

Under 16

This team had a very good year in 2001 getting to the East Cork final where the were beaten by a better balanced team.

Their coach for the coming year is John Halbert.

Minor  Under 18

Team Trainer Coach; Richard Cahill

Under 21

This is a grade where success has eluded us in the past few years.

The  manager for this year 2003 is Liam Cahill with selectors Enda Moloney and Derek O Reilly.

Junior B

This is our second adult team and we should have a strong team for this years championship.

The manager for this team is Denis O Leary
